Coincidentally, Zoltan Hargitay happens to be the son of a theater, television, Broadway superstar, Jayne Marie Mansfield. His father, Mickey Hargitay, is an Hungarian-American mix who, like Jayne Marie Mansfield and Zoltan, is also in the acting field. Mickey Hargitay is also fondly remembered as the winner of the 1955 Mr. Universe pageantry award.

When Zoltan’s mother died, he father married a third wife. He name was Ellen Siano. It was Micky Hargitay and Ellen Siano that raised Zoltan and his siblings to adulthood.

Zoltan Hargitay mauled by lion
In 1966, when Zoltan Hargitay was about six years old, he had to undergo brain surgery after he had been reportedly mauled by a lion at Jungleland. The lion was a showbiz animal that regularly appeared in movies.
At the time the lion attacked her son, Jayne Marie Mansfield was posing for pictures at the private zoo. Suddenly she heard a loud cry from her son. Shocked, she ran over and saw her son in the jaws of a lion. The lion had jumped him, grabbed him and was rolling him by the neck on the ground.
Eventually the boy was rescued and taken to the hospital. He had to undergo brain surgery as a result.
He however survived the mauling and grew up and old. He’s still alive till today.

Today, Zoltan Hargitay is still alive and doing well. There have been no reports of him coming in harm’s way since the lion mauling incident that almost claimed his life when he was six years old.
